"Tapbox" self-service solutions are changing the culture of customer service

The self-service solutions developed by the Latvian company "Tapbox" help companies automate and digitize customer service. The company offers both hardware and software development, providing a full development cycle – from idea to finished product and its integration into the company's IT systems. "Tapbox" self-service kiosks are convenient and intuitive for users, while for companies they provide an opportunity to replace or supplement staff – such as receptionists or cashiers – with a reliable, 24/7 kiosk. They can be used to make payments, sign up for services, fill out documents, authenticate, obtain information, and much more.

The company was founded in 2015 and initially developed at the Jelgava Business Incubator of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA). After a year and a half of research and prototype development, in 2017  "Tapbox"" signed its first major cooperation agreement with the cinema chain Cinamon, installing self-service equipment in cinemas in the Baltic States and Finland.

Although the company specializes in solutions tailored specifically for medical institutions, Tapbox technologies can be applied to almost any industry. In Latvia, kiosks have been installed in many leading hospitals and health centers, including the Children's Clinical University Hospital, Riga East Clinical Hospital, Orto Clinic, Riga 1st Hospital, and elsewhere. Tapbox solutions are also used in the transport sector – for ticket purchases at Riga Central Station and Lux Express ticket purchases at the bus station, as well as in retail - in the near future, kiosks - self-service cash registers will be installed in Jānis Roze bookstores.

Tapbox offers self-service solutions of the future, today. We help companies and institutions implement convenient, secure, and efficient ways to serve their customers—no lines, no unnecessary steps, no complications," says company co-founder Toms Piliksers.

One of the company's development focuses is export, which is why Tapbox has actively participated in international exhibitions and trade missions in Dubai, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and elsewhere. "Cooperation with LIAA has allowed us to participate in exhibitions such as GITEX Global and Arab Health, where we have managed to establish valuable contacts. However, participation alone is not enough – serious work must be done both before and after the exhibition in order for it to bring real results," Piliksers points out.

One of the company's most interesting international projects has been implemented in Africa – self-service kiosks for cash deposits and withdrawals using fingerprint authentication have been developed and installed for a bank in Liberia.

Tapbox also actively uses other state support instruments, including co-financing for attracting highly qualified employees and support for digitization projects. "Of course, bureaucracy still exists – reports, documents, deadlines – but I would like to encourage other entrepreneurs: in recent years, these processes have become much simpler and more user-friendly. It is a great tool – any additional funding and support allows a company to grow faster, develop new functionalities and conquer new markets more quickly," emphasizes Piliksers.
