Registration is now open for the energy sector forum, which will take place on November 26 in Liepāja at the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall. The forum continues the Latvian Investment and Development Agency’s (LIAA) “Sector Days” series, which began on October 30 in Madona with an event dedicated to the food industry.

The forum will address the future of energy in Europe and Latvia, smart and efficient production, and attracting European Union (EU) funding for energy projects. One of the topics will be the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and cooperation between science and industry. Separate sessions will examine the ELWIND offshore wind energy project in Latvia and Estonia, ports as hubs for the energy industry, and the importance of energy and dual-use technologies for security.

“Latvian companies should also benefit from energy projects. For manufacturers and technology companies, these projects can become a source of new orders and growth. At the industry event in Liepāja, we’ll help entrepreneurs understand how to get involved in these projects, where to find partners, and how to secure funding,” emphasizes Vita Balode-Andrūsa, Director of the Export and Innovation Services Department at LIAA.

“Liepāja is a strong partner in the development of Latvia’s energy sector — with its manufacturing and port experience, the potential for renewable energy resources in Kurzeme, and opportunities to collaborate with the RTU Liepāja Academy on research and the implementation of new technologies,” says Gunārs Ansiņš, Chair of the Liepāja City Council. “As we work toward Liepāja’s 2030 climate goals, it is important for us to align energy efficiency and innovation with the needs of the city and its businesses. This industry day is an opportunity for businesses to find collaboration partners, learn about technologies and financing options, while aligning the perspectives of the national government, local governments, the scientific community, and businesses. Together, we must ensure that investments in energy strengthen the region’s economy, ensure a secure and cost-competitive energy supply, and benefit residents.”

“For Latvian companies, energy can be not only a cost item but also an opportunity for growth,” emphasizes Kārlis Grīnbergs, a member of the board of SIA “energi” and an energy auditor. “In practice, I see that Latvia’s energy-intensive companies are often more progressive than we realize. Each is implementing more efficient solutions and new technologies in its own operations and at its own pace.”

Representatives from companies in the energy, manufacturing, technology, port, and logistics sectors, including participants in the Business Incubation Program, are invited to the forum. Networking and an exchange of experiences are planned for the end of the day.

Registration for participants will begin at 9:30 a.m. on November 26 at the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall in Liepāja, while the forum is scheduled to open at 10:00 a.m. You can register to participate by November 25 and view the program on the event page on the LIAA platform at business.gov.lv.

This series of events is organized by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency as part of the “Program for the Development of Innovative Entrepreneurship in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises,” which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Latvian state budget.
