Program description

The Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) offers support for organizing international sporting events and exhibitions in Latvia.

Who can apply

Micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, associations, and foundations.

Type of support

Financial support for the organization of an international sporting event or exhibition.

Event conditions:

• at least 2 consecutive days;
• at least 500 foreign visitors and/or participants;
• participants from at least 4 countries.

Support

Support amount 60%, up to EUR 200,000 (depending on the number of participants)

Program description

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) offers support aimed at ensuring state budget co-financing for the organization of major events in Latvia, creating a positive economic impact and promoting the international recognition of Latvia's image.

Who can apply

Micro, small, medium or large commercial entities, associations or foundations.

Type of support

Financial support for the organization of major events in Latvia.

At least 5,000 foreign guests.

Lasting at least one day, with guests spending at least two nights in Latvian tourist accommodation.

VAT payments to the state budget amounting to at least 50% of the co-financing.

Support

The amount of support is 30% of the total eligible costs of the major event project.

Who can apply

Micro, small, medium or large businesses that:

has been registered in the Latvian Film Producers Register for at least 24 months prior to the submission of the project;

has concluded an agreement or memorandum of understanding with a foreign film producer registered abroad as a film producer for the intention to shoot a film in Latvia.

Type of support

Financial support for the shooting of foreign films in Latvia. For the shooting of new foreign films, including series, episodes or seasons, etc.  

Support

The amount of support is up to 30% of the total eligible costs of the foreign film project in Latvia.

Support for Large Enterprises and the Public Sector for Organising International Exhibitions in Latvia, LIAA

Programme Description

The objective of the programme is to ensure the availability of funding for organising international exhibitions in Latvia, thereby generating revenue for Latvia from foreign visitors and participants of the exhibition.

Who Can Apply

Large enterprises, including state and municipal companies, municipalities, Special Economic Zones (SEZ), port authorities, planning regions, and scientific institutions.

Support

Financial support for organising international exhibitions in Latvia.

Event Conditions

• At least 2 consecutive days;
• At least 500 foreign visitors and/or participants;
• Participants from at least 4 countries.

Funding Intensity

• 60% of eligible costs, up to EUR 100,000 (depending on the number of participants), if granted as de minimis aid; or
• 85% of eligible costs, up to EUR 100,000 (depending on the number of participants), if the support does not qualify as State aid for commercial activity.

Availability

Applications are open from 24 February 2026 until 15 November 2026, or until the available funding is exhausted.

How to Apply

No later than 3 months after the last day of the exhibition, submit a payment request via the e-service portal business.gov.lv, providing all supporting documentation.

LIAA evaluates the payment request and adopts a decision on granting and disbursing the support, including the conclusion of a framework agreement.

LIAA disburses the funding.
